Creating the brand identity for a publication, keynote lecture, and workshop featuring influential album cover artist Robert Beatty.
Robert Beatty is an influential album cover designer and illustrator best known for his work with artists such as Tame Impala, Kesha, Oneohtrix Point Never, Neon Indian, and many more.
I created a typographically-focused visual identity in advance of his visit to MICA for a keynote lecture and workshop and applied it to an exclusive publication about his career.
I wanted to create a design language that would capture the vibrant essence of Beatty’s work without overshadowing it. Inspired by his airbrushed illustration style and funky, bold typeface choices from across the 20th century, I designed a punchy, in-your-face color palette and combined it with typeface choices that ranged from sleek and utilitarian (Univers, Eurostile) to ostentatious and funky (ITC Busorama, Windsor).
